Actinolite is a green calcium-magnesium-iron amphibole mineral. It belongs to a group of minerals known for their fibrous and elongated crystal forms. Certain varieties of actinolite are associated with nephrite jade. Nephrite is often considered a compact fibrous variety closely related to actinolite.
