KembaraXtra – Legal Terms – Invitation to Treat
An invitation to treat is an indication that a person is willing to receive offers but is not itself an offer capable of acceptance. Common examples include advertisements, shop displays, and auction catalogues.
The concept prevents sellers from being legally bound prematurely. It preserves contractual freedom by allowing sellers to choose whether or not to accept an offer made by a customer.
