Legal Terms - Administrative Powers
Administrative powers refer to the discretionary powers of an executive type that are granted by legislation to government ministers, as well as public and municipal authorities.

Authorities, as well as other organizations and individuals, are involved in the process of implementing specific actions to achieve a general policy. Examples encompass the authority to obtain land through compulsory means, the ability to approve or deny licenses or consents, and the power to define the exact type and scope of services to be rendered.
Administrative powers are present in all areas of public administration, encompassing urban and rural planning, the oversight of public health and environmental issues, the operation of social welfare agencies, and the regulation of many crafts, professions, and activities. Their exercise is under the scrutiny of the judiciary through the application of the ultra vires doctrine and administrative receiver.
