Legal Terms - ASBO
An ASBO, or Anti-Social Behaviour Order, is a court order that previously barred the receiver from engaging in any activities specified in the order. Regarding the topic of crime
According to the Anti-Social Behaviour and Disorder Act of 1998, an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) could be given to someone if they have behaved in a way that is likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress. The purpose of the order is to protect others from future anti-social acts by that person. ASBOs may be imposed either as an alternative to criminal prosecution or after a conviction in criminal proceedings. ASBOs have been substituted by civil injunctions and Criminal Behaviour Orders under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
