Cannabis is a substance derived from the crushed leaves and flowers of the hemp plant, scientifically known as Cannabis sativa. Cannabis is classified as a restricted substance belonging to Class B. The Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Regulations 2018 allowed the medical utilization of cannabis for individuals with "exceptional clinical need". So far, this has been understood to encompass those with epilepsy or those experiencing extremely severe side effects from chemotherapy. The cannabis must be recommended by a licensed specialized physician.
