Legal Terms - civil injunction
a court order issued against a person directing him to carry out specific actions or abstain from conducting specific actions as outlined in the order. *ASBOs (Anti-Social Behaviour Orders) were replaced with civil injunctions by the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act of 2014. The primary distinctions are (i) the capacity to enforce both prohibitions and positive requirements, such as participation in a drug rehab program; and (ii) the fact that, in addition to the police, a variety of organizations, including local governments and landlords, may file an application for a civil injunction. A two-year prison sentence or an infinite fine could be imposed for violating the injunction.
