Legal Terms – Compound Settlement
A land settlement that results from a number of trust agreements, such as a resettlement after a *entailed interest is barred. The trustees of the original settlement—or, in the absence of any—those of the resettlement—are recognized as the trustees of the compound settlement under the Settled Land Act of 1925. As a result, the tenant for life can always outweigh the interests of every other beneficiary.
