Legal Terms – contribution
The payment made by each of two or more people in respect of damage or a loss for which they are jointly liable. When two or more parties are jointly accountable for the same damages in a tort case and the victim has received compensation from one of the parties, the victim may pursue claims against the other tortfeasors. Any individual who has suffered a general-average loss is entitled to contributions from other parties having an interest in the property.
