Legal Terms -Coroner
A Crown official whose main duty is to look into deaths that may have been violent or unusual. He'll either request a *autopsy or hold a *inquest to accomplish this. *Treasure Trove inquests are also held by the coroner. The Crown appoints coroners from among barristers, solicitors, and licensed medical professionals who have practiced medicine for at least five years. The coroner's court procedure is governed by a small set of guidelines. The coroner's role is to look at the details of a specific incident; he doesn't decide who might be at fault.
