Legal Terms -dependants’ leave
Employees under the Employment Rights Act of 1996 are entitled to a reasonable amount of unpaid leave from work to support dependents. These include: assisting in the event that a dependent becomes ill, becomes pregnant (excluding time off after the birth, known as *paternity leave or *parental leave), is injured, or is assaulted; arranging for the provision of care for a dependent who is ill or injured, or as a result of a dependant's death; addressing an incident involving the employee's child that arises unexpectedly during a period during which an educational establishment

child attends is typically in charge of them (e.g., school time).
A spouse, kid, parent, civil partner, or other family who justifiably depends on the worker for support is considered a dependant. Case: Harrison v. Royal Bank of Scotland Plc [2009] ICR 116
