A category of state officials tasked with representing their state and its interests, as well as the welfare of its population, inside the jurisdiction of another state or in international organizations. Diplomatic agents can be categorized into two primary groups: (1) heads of mission and (2) staff members of the mission possessing diplomatic rank.
