The conveyance of land by electronic methods rather than through paper documentation. The foundation for this conveyancing has been established by the Electronic Communications Act 2000 and the Land Registration Act 2002. The timetable for the implementation of the pertinent elements of the 2002 Act has not yet been disclosed; nonetheless, land registers are maintained electronically, and it is currently feasible to discharge mortgages electronically. In 2013, the Land Registry declared that the advancement of electronic conveyancing has been halted due to escalating expenses.
