Legal Terms - Freeing of adoption
Previously, the process by which parents provided their consent for a child's adoption, or such consent was waived on statutory grounds. Parents provided their approval in broad terms, rather than for an adoption by specific prospective adopters. The Adoption and Children Act 2002 dissolved it and instituted a new placement regime (see to placement order).
