Legal Terms – Guarantee Payment
A statutory payment that an employer must make to an employee under the Employment Rights Act 1996 (Part III, ss. 28–35) when no work is available for a full working day or shift. Entitlement arises after one month’s continuous employment and is subject to a daily and total cap. Employees are not entitled to such payment if absence is due to industrial action, refusal of reasonable alternative work, or non-compliance with availability requirements.
