Legal Terms – Hague Conventions
A series of international treaties adopted at The Hague in 1899 and 1907, primarily concerning the laws of war and international dispute resolution.
The 1899 conventions created the Permanent Court of Arbitration, which functioned before the establishment of the Permanent Court of International Justice and later the International Court of Justice.
Although still technically in force, many provisions have become outdated due to advances in warfare. These conventions remain foundational to modern humanitarian and international law
