Legal Terms – Her Majesty’s Stationery Office (HMSO)
Formerly the official publisher of UK government documents. Following its privatization in 1996, most functions transferred to The Stationery Office (TSO), though HMSO retains core responsibilities such as:
  • Managing Crown copyright and Parliamentary copyright.
  • Supervising the Queen’s Printer regarding Acts of Parliament and statutory instruments.
Today, HMSO operates within the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI), ensuring the lawful publication and protection of government records.
