Legal Terms – Homeless Person
Under the Housing Act 1996, a person is homeless if they lack accommodation they are entitled to occupy, are unlawfully excluded from their home, or live in mobile accommodation that cannot lawfully be stationed. Vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly, disabled, or families with dependent children) have a statutory right to permanent or temporary housing. The Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 further mandates local authorities to offer free prevention services to at-risk individuals
