A scar is the fibrous tissue that has grown in place of a previous wound or ulcer.
• Hard, hypertrophic scars are possible.
• Soft, atrophic scars are possible.
• The skin's tissue compartments may diminish or disappear entirely; scars may or may not be noticeable.
