​Abfraction is a dental condition characterized by notching or wear at the neck of a tooth near the gum line. It occurs due to mechanical stress from improper bite alignment, which causes the tooth to flex repeatedly. Over time, this stress leads to separation of the enamel from the underlying dentine.
