The action of amobarbital
CNS depressant medication to take. Hypnotic and anxiety-reducing.
Method of Operation
For the purpose of enhancing the effects of GABA, it binds to the barbiturate binding site on the GABAA receptor. At larger concentrations, it is possible to enhance channel opening even when GABA is not present.To be taken orally. It is metabolized by the P450 system in the liver.24–36 hours is the half life.
Use in Clinical Settings
sleeplessness that is severe and does not respond to other, safer medications. These days, it is used much less. This is in addition to the fact that barbiturates are utilized as antiepileptic medications and general anesthetics.
Allergies and Reactions
