Pharmacology - Cinacalcet
The action of Cinacalcet By reducing the conversion of calcifediol to calcitriol, decreasing the excretion of calcium by the kidney, increasing the absorption of calcium from the intestine, and mobilizing calcium from bone, this medication reduces the secretion of parathyroid hormone, which in turn leads to an increase in plasma calcium levels. Method of Operation In parathyroid cells, it stimulates the calcium-sensing receptor, which is already active. When used orally, it requires bile salts in order to be absorbed. It is possible to administer it through intravenous injection. Hyperparathyroidism is a clinical use syndrome. Effects That Are Bad A hypercalcemic state can be brought on by excessive consumption; if this condition continues, renal calculi may develop. The levels of creatinine, phosphate, and calcium in the serum should be monitored.
