​Pharmacology - Erythromycin 
Erythromycin works by preventing bacteria from making new proteins. Clarithromycin and azithromycin are medications that are similar.
Approach It blocks the transfer RNA's (and the peptide's) movement from the A site to the P site. Administered intravenously or by mouth. The half-life of this substance is 1.5 hours.  Very dispersed; does not reach the central nervous system or brain.

Clinical Application
Treating people with penicillin allergies can help prevent pneumococcal and streptococcal infections. It is for mycoplasma and chlamydial infections. Syphilis, diphtheria, prostatitis, whooping cough, and campylobacter enteritis are among the skin and respiratory tract illnesses that this medication can treat.

Potential Side Effects 
GIT disturbances. Allergic reactions and cholestatic jaundice are less common.
