​Pharmacology - Lamotrigine 
Anticonvulsant medication. In patients with bipolar disorder, it lessens the frequency of mood episodes.

Method of Operation 
A reduction in postsynaptic neuronal excitement can be achieved through the inhibition of glutamate release. There is a possibility that this is because the nerve ending is inhibiting the Na+ (and possibly Ca2+) channels.


Oral admin. To be subjected to glucuronidation by the liver. 24–36 hours is the half life.

Use in Clinical Settings 
seizures that are partial and generalized, including lack of seizures. It is a bipolar disorder.

Adverse Effects
You may experience drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and double vision. Patients, particularly children, are at risk for developing severe skin rashes. This is a rather uncommon occurrence.
