Action of Levamisole
Stimulates nicotinic receptors at the neuromuscular junction, resulting in the worm's tonic paralysis.
The eggs are not excreted in the feces, but the paralyzed worms are. To be taken orally; the plasma half-life is four hours.
Use in Clinical Settings
Roundworm infection, the common kind.
Precautions to Take
Very minor gastrointestinal discomfort.
