​Pharmacology - Salmeterol 
As a physiological antagonist of spasmogenic mediators, salmeterol bronchodilation is a powerful treatment option.

to treat asthma through inhalation. Long-acting (lasting between 8 and 12 hours); primarily metabolized by P450, with a sizeable quantity being lost in feces.

Use in Clinical Settings 
For the purpose of preventing bronchoconstriction in patients who require prolonged bronchodilator therapy or who suffer from exercise-induced asthma (also known as insomnia). Because of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Adverse Reactions 
Some peripheral vasodilation, tremors, tachycardia, and occasionally dysrhythmias are also present. Nervousness is also present.

It is not administered "as needed," but rather on a regular basis as an adjuvant to corticosteroids. It is not used for acute attacks.
