Method of Operation 
It is highly probable that glutamate is able to inhibit AMPA/kainate receptors; however, topiramate is also capable of blocking voltage-dependent Na+ channels and amplifying the activity of GABA on GABAA receptors.

Oral admin. There is some hepatic metabolism, but the majority of it is eliminated unaltered in urine.Twenty-one hours is the half life.

Use in Clinical Settings
Tonic-clonic seizures and partial seizures that are generalised. To treat migraines, it is used regularly.

Allergies and Reactions
