An anticonvulsant. Improves one's mood.

Method of Operation
 The antiepileptic action may be caused by a number of different actions, including the blocking of voltage-gated Na+ channels, which inhibits the initiation and propagation of action potentials; the inhibition of GABA transaminase, which reduces the breakdown of GABA; and the numerous effects on second messenger pathways.Oral admin. Glucuronidation and mitochondrial oxidation are both processes that can occur.The half-life ranges from 9 to 16 hours.

Use in Clinical Settings
There are numerous types of epilepsy, particularly helpful in myoclonic seizures. During the manic phase of bipolar illness... Migraine. 

Allergies and Reactions 
Nausea and vomiting are symptoms. Tremors are felt. Put on some weight. Reproductive dysfunction. Toxic effects on the pancreas and liver, particularly during the baby stage. consequences that are harmful to the developing fetus, such as neural tube abnormalities and spina bifida.
