Pharmacology - Zolpidem
In comparison to benzodiazepines, the hypnotic action of Zolpidem is less anxiolytic, less amnestic, and less stimulating to the muscles.
Method of Operation
In order to increase the channel opening activity of GABA, it binds to the benzodiazepine binding site on the GABAA receptor (the more limited activities are owing to the selective action on the BZ1 receptors). Reduces the electrical excitability of the membrane that surrounds neuronal cells. Oral admin. While zopiclone and zolpidem have a short half-life (two to three hours and six hours, respectively), zaleplon has an extremely short half-life.
The clinical application of insomnia.
Adverse Effects
Able to be endured. A little bit of sleepiness, disorientation, and lightheadedness. It's possible that tolerance and reliance will develop, along with withdrawal symptoms. Reactions caused by inflammation. Boosts the central nervous system depression brought on by other medications, such as ethanol.
