Atomoxetine is a drug used to treat ADHD, developed by Eli Lilly and first marketed in January 2003; it is given as atomoxetine hydrochloride and is sometimes preferred over methylphenidate (Ritalin) due to generally milder side effects, because it is a selective noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor rather than a stimulant, and because it is suitable for adults as well as children. It was formerly called tomoxetine, is commonly known by the trademark Strattera, and has the formula C₁₇H₂₁NO.
