Psychological Term — Anal -Expulsive Phase
The anal-expulsive phase is the first part of the anal stage proposed by Karl Abraham. In this stage, a child gains pleasure from releasing feces, and linked aggressive impulses are expressed in destruction or disorder.
Later, development ideally progresses to the anal-retentive phase, when control and withholding become primary. Abraham suggested that the healthy transition between these sub-stages is essential to later forming loving and cooperative relationships.
