​A person undergoing psychoanalytic treatment, typically engaged in long-term exploration of unconscious processes, symbolic patterns, emotional conflicts, and interpersonal dynamics.
The analysand collaborates with the analyst through structured dialogue, free association, and dream exploration, enabling internal conflicts to surface.
The term parallels grammatical constructions such as “multiplicand,” denoting the person who is acted upon in the analytic process.
