Psychological Terms – Analysis of Covariance
A statistical technique related to analysis of variance (ANOVA), used to evaluate the influence of one or more independent variables on a dependent variable while statistically removing the effects of an additional variable—the covariate.
This method helps account for preexisting differences among participants (e.g., age, intelligence) that cannot be handled through random assignment, improving interpretive accuracy.
