Psychology Terms – Active Techniques
In psychoanalysis, a collection of technical procedures introduced by Hungarian psychoanalyst Sandor Ferenczi (1873–1933) at the 1920 Psychoanalytic Congress in The Hague, with the endorsement of Sigmund Freud (1856–1939), wherein the analyst is urged to transcend mere interpretation and, at times, to provide directives and prohibitions to patients.
