Psychology Terms –Addiction
Addiction is a condition of reliance on a chemical substance, particularly drugs like alcohol, nicotine, or caffeine, as well as narcotics such as morphine or heroin. It is marked by a profound physiological and/or psychological compulsion to consume the substance, despite the foreseen negative repercussions, withdrawal symptoms upon sudden cessation, and, in certain instances, drug tolerance.
