Psychology Terms - Alpha fibre A large-diameter, heavily myelinated type of efferent somatic nerve fibre, exemplified by the fibre innervating skeletal muscle, comprised of alpha motor neurons and characterized by high conduction velocity. United States alpha fiber. Also referred to as α fibre.
