KembaraXtra – Travel Terms: ABTA Travel Agents’ Fund
Under ABTA rules, agent members may be required to contribute up to half of their annual subscription in any one year into this Fund. Its primary purpose is to indemnify, wholly or partly, members of the travelling public against losses caused by the default or financial failure of any travel agent member. The entry also states the fund may, at the discretion of a committee of Travel Agents’ Council, be used to indemnify tour operators that have sustained losses.
