​10Base-FP is a fiber-optic networking design from the 10Base-F family that enables a passive star configuration, meaning that stations connect to a central point that requires no electrical power for signal amplification. Up to several dozen devices can be linked through this passive hub, benefiting from fiber optics’ immunity to electrical noise and the ability to operate safely over longer distances. This approach was useful in environments requiring minimal maintenance or where electrical infrastructure was limited.
