KembaraXtra- Computer Terms – 387SX
The 387SX designates the Intel 80387SX math coprocessor, specifically engineered for use with the Intel 80386SX processor. Unlike the full 80387, the SX variant matched the 16-bit external data bus of the 80386SX, making it compatible with lower-cost systems. Its purpose was identical to that of other FPUs: to provide faster floating-point arithmetic for applications such as CAD software, spreadsheets, and technical computing, thereby enhancing overall system performance.
