KembaraXtra-Computer Terms – attribute:
An attribute refers to a descriptive property or characteristic associated with a piece of data, a display element, or a markup structure. In database systems, an attribute represents the name or structure of a field within a record. For example, in a phone directory database, fields such as LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, and PHONE represent attributes of each record. Attributes can also describe properties such as the type of data stored in a field or the field’s size. In computer display systems operating in character mode, attributes may refer to additional information associated with characters in the video buffer, controlling features such as foreground and background colors, blinking, or underlining. In markup languages such as HTML and SGML, an attribute is a name-value pair included within a tag that modifies or specifies characteristics of an element.
