KembaraXtra-Computer Terms – attribution line:
An attribution line is a line of text used in e-mail messages, newsgroups, or other Internet-based communications to identify the original author of quoted material. When a person replies to a message and includes text from a previous message, the attribution line indicates who wrote the quoted content. Messaging software often inserts this line automatically before the quoted section. A typical attribution line might appear as a phrase such as “John wrote:” followed by the quoted text. This helps readers understand the context of the conversation and distinguish between the original message and the reply.
