B: or b: is an identifier used in operating systems such as MS-DOS to represent a floppy disk drive. Traditionally, the first floppy drive in a computer system is assigned the identifier A:, while the second floppy drive is assigned B:. In systems that contain only one floppy drive, the B: identifier may still be used by the operating system to refer to the drive when it functions as the secondary drive.
