KembaraXtra-Computer Terms – background:
In computing, the term background describes processes or tasks that run without direct interaction from the user while the user is working on another activity. Background processes operate behind the scenes and are usually given a lower priority in the processor’s time allocation compared to foreground tasks, which are actively used by the user. Because of this lower priority, background tasks normally remain invisible unless the user chooses to check their status or bring them to the foreground. Multitasking operating systems commonly support background processing, allowing several tasks to run simultaneously. However, even some systems without full multitasking capabilities may still perform certain background functions. For example, a computer may continue printing a document while the user performs other work.
