KembaraXtra-Computer Terms – batch total:

A batch total is a control value calculated from a group of records that share a common characteristic. It is used to verify that all data within a batch has been processed correctly and that no information has been lost or incorrectly entered during processing.

For example, the total value of all sales transactions recorded during a day may be calculated as a batch total. After the individual records are processed, the system compares the calculated total with the expected value to confirm that all records have been accounted for accurately.
