A bridge router, also known as a brouter, is a networking device that combines the functions of both a bridge and a router. It connects different segments of a network and forwards data packets between them as needed.
Unlike traditional routers, a bridge router uses data-link layer (Layer 2) addresses for routing decisions. This allows it to efficiently manage traffic within both local and wide area networks.
