Differential Diagnosis of Anaerobic Infections
• Ischemic necrosis without accompanying anaerobic infection (or “dry” gangrene [noninfected necrosis] vs. “wet” gangrene [infected tissue with anaerobic infection]) • Primary differential possibility is an aerobic bacterial infection without the presence of anaerobic bacteria.
