The action of alendronate Both bone resorption and bone density are increased as a result of its presence. Method of Operation Osteoclast-mediated bone resorption is prevented by this substance. Apoptosis of osteoclasts is also promoted by the incorporation of this substance into the bone matrix and the consumption of it by osteoclasts. The localization of this substance occurs at sites of bone mineralization when it is taken orally with a substantial volume of water one hour before eating. It attaches to the hydroxyapatite that is present in the bone matrix because it is an analogue of pyrophosphate. In order to prevent reflux, it is necessary for the patient to maintain an upright position for approximately one hour following the administration of the medication.
