Pharmacology - Clopidogrel
The action of Clopidogrel Platelet activation is prevented as a result. Mode of Action It does this by preventing the binding of ADP to the purine receptor on platelets in an irreversible manner, which in turn prevents platelet activation that is mediated by ADP and interferes with platelet aggregation that is mediated by GpIIb/IIIa antibodies. Orally administered, with the loading dose being taken once daily. Utilized in the production of an active chemical. The effects are long-lasting, lasting several days, until platelets are replaced. This is because the activity is irreversible. Use in Clinical Settings Myocardial infarction and associated vascular problems, as well as their prevention and treatment. A common combination with aspirin. Adverse Effects Unwanted effects include bleeding, discomfort in the gastrointestinal tract, and rashes. Infrequently, neutropenia. The effects were amplified by several different antithrombotic medications. NSAIDs and phenytoin are both inhibited in their metabolism by interactions.
