Pharmacology - Halothane
The action of halothane
CNS depressant medication to take. Causes one to become unconscious. A very mild analgesic effect.

Method of Operation
It does this by increasing the action of GABA on GABAA receptors and by opening K+ channels of the TRK type, which in turn reduces neuronal activity, particularly in the cerebral cortex, thalamus, and hippocampus. When it comes to activity, lipid solubility is essential.

Inhaled with oxygen after being administered. "Blood/gas solubility" is a factor that determines the rate of equilibration with the body as well as the beginning of anesthesia. A medium onset of action is seen by halothane, while desflurane and sevoflurane (which have lower blood/gas solubilities) have a rapid onset of action. primarily removed by the lungs without any changes.

Use in Clinical Settings
Induction of general anesthesia is performed less frequently than maintenance of the anesthesia.

Adverse Effects
Heart and respiratory depression are both present. Cardiac dysrhythmias. After surgery, nausea and vomiting are common.
Extremely rare cases of malignant hyperthermia and damage to the liver (caused by metabolites). It is possible for sevoflurane to cause renal injury.
