Pharmacology- Losartan
Action Vasoconstrictor tone is decreased, which results in a reduction in blood pressure. The mode of action involves inhibiting the action of angiotensin II on the receptor that is associated with angiotensin II (AT1 subtype). Orally administered. The half-life of the metabolite is between three and four hours. Use in clinical settings This includes hypertension, congestive heart failure, and nephropathy. Adverse effects There is hypotension and dizziness. A hyperkalemic state may develop. It does not result in the dry cough or angioedema that is usually seen with ACE inhibitors.
